SYNOPSIS- THE NORTH WIND

In this tale of adventure, Hans must travel to meet the North Wind and persuade him to give him back what was stolen. As a gift, the North Wind gives Hans a series of magical items, each of which the innkeeper and his wife steal from the boy while he sleeps. The North Wind gives Hans one last gift to force the innkeeper to give Hans back what belongs to him, teaching the innkeeper an important lesson. 

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: 
HANS- A polite, persistent, and intelligent boy
NORTH WIND- In charge of the other winds, he can be a bit moody 
INNKEEPER- A well-meaning man, controlled by his wife
INNKEEPER’S WIFE- Obsessed with money, she’ll do anything to get what she thinks she deserves
MOTHER- A widow struggling to keep herself and her son, Hans, afloat
EAST WIND AND THE WEST WIND- The dynamic duo known as the Trade Wind Twins – can be male or female, dance/movement experience a plus
AUTUMN- An encouraging and energetic wind trusted by the North Wind – can be male (Autumn Gust) or female (Amber Autumn), dance/movement experience a plus
SPRING BREEZE- Gentle and nurturing, the “mom friend” of the winds – dance/movement experience a plus
SANTA ANA- Helpful and warm, he is the second in command of the winds – dance/movement experience a plus 
OLAF AND MAX- Servers at the inn
RAM- A magical gift from the North Wind (no lines)
INN GUESTS- Other customers at the inn
EXTRA WINDS- Dancers/movers to fill out the winds


SYNOPSIS- THE VAIN PRINCESS

In this folktale, after the Princess offends a magical bird, a kind and humble beggar sets out on a quest to break the curse, save the kingdom, and teach the Princess a valuable lesson.

Our goal is to assemble a diverse and inclusive cast to bring this story to life. 

Please note any gymnastics, acrobatic, dance, martial arts or parkour background. Musical skills and any magic, juggling or puppetry experience should also be notated on the audition form.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: 
STORYTELLER- Charismatic individual who narrates the story.
KING- Imperious Father of the Princess
PRINCESS- Self-absorbed, beautiful daughter of the King.
ROYAL HAND MAIDEN 1- Lady in waiting who loyally serves the Princess. Tap or gymnastic experience a plus.
ROYAL HAND MAIDEN 2- Lady in waiting who loyally serves the Princess. Tap or gymnastic experience a plus.
ROYAL HAND MAIDEN 2- Lady in waiting who loyally serves the Princess. Tap or gymnastic experience a plus.
MYSTIC/ENSEMBLE* – Sage adviser to the King
NAJEE- A brave, but kind and humble beggar.
BIRD- A mysterious and magical visitor to the kingdom. Singing ability a plus.
ANT/ENSEMBLE*- Assists the beggar in his quest. Martial Arts experience a plus
FLOWER/ENSEMBLE* Assists the beggar in his quest. Ballet experience a plus.
MOUSE/ENSEMBLE* Assists the beggar in his quest. Tap or gymnastic experience a plus.
WIND/ENSEMBLE* – Mischievous force that assists the bird. Dance or gymnastic experience a plus.
TREES/ENSEMBLE* – Puppetry, dance or gymnastic experience a plus.
*Those cast in ENSEMBLE will also participate in puppetry, percussion and assist with special effects as stage hands.
